Science Saturdays revs up children

January 2, 2008

Albany - - An Albany children's museum takes science lessons to a new level.

Is-Kids Incorporated just opened five months ago.

It stands for Inspiration Station and organizers are using it to strengthen children's science skills.

It's located in the Village Green Plaza on Dawson Road. Wednesday, children created a gas to blow up a balloon. Its an example of the many projects Is-Kids is starting soon in the new Science Saturdays program.

"We use the Georgia standards for education and base our science programs on so children can take those concepts back to the classroom," says Founder Marie Sanders.

The non-profit museum is ran by volunteers.

It opens its doors for field trips for schools, but the museum relies on parents who want their children to get some extra attention.

Science Saturdays begins January 12th.
