Albany - - An unexpected burglary or fire can rip away your personal valuables. An Albany church is trying to help people prepare for the unexpected.

New Vision Outreach Ministries is developing several community projects to help people in times of need. One of those programs is helping match people with affordable renter's insurance.

Organizers encourage people to follow standard safety guidelines, like having a fire extinguisher and updating smoke detectors. But they say insurance is just as important.

"As we go into the new year, people have spent a lot of hard earned money buying new computers, flat screen TVs. People work hard to acquire these things and don't have money to go into the store and just replace it. With this renter's insurance, you have extra protection," says Sonja Peterson.

New Vision teamed up with Allstate Insurance to help.

For more information, you can reach a representative from the church at 485-7872.
