Fund helps paralyzed Thomas Co. deputy

December 28, 2007

Thomas County - A bank account has been set up to help the family of a Thomas County deputy paralyzed after a Christmas Eve crash.

Deputy Chad Griffin was taking an inmate from Pavo to the Thomas County Jail Monday when he hit a horse that was standing on Highway 122.

The horse crashed through the windshield and pinned Griffin against the cage behind him.

He suffered severe spinal cord injuries.

Griffin is now being treated at the Shepard Spinal Center in Atlanta.

An account under his name has been set up at the Rose City Credit Union on South Hansel Street in Thomasville to help his family with medical expenses.

The horse was killed.  The inmate was not injured.
