Albany -- Some south Georgians are already casting ballots for their favorite Presidential candidate.
Absentee voting is underway for Georgia's Presidential Primaries. Since absentee voting opened on the 26th, six people have cast ballots at the Board of Elections office in Albany.
Election officials say now is the perfect chance for college students to vote before they return to school.
"We especially want to target our college kids and those folks that are going to be going back soon, they can come in and vote in person 8:30 to 5:00," says Elections Supervisor Carolyn Hatcher. " We will be closed next Tuesday for New Years, but other than that we'll be open all week and they can come in and vote early."
So far in Dougherty County, 131 Democrats and 41 Republicans have applied for absentee ballots. Early voting will open the week of January 28th in the Candy Room at the Riverfront Center. Georgia's primary election day is February 5th.
