Valdosta - Thousands of shoppers are heading to the malls to make gift exchanges and use those holiday gift cards.
At the Valdosta Mall, it was no different.
Many people headed to catch the after Christmas sales and even get a jump start on next year's wish lists.
But for some, it was retail therapy to keep their minds off of loved ones who won't be home for the rest of the holidays.
"My husband left for the desert this morning so we are here with some other wives, shopping and trying to make ourselves feel a little better," says Mandi Rice.
"We are just hanging out and trying to keep each other uplifted and shopping always does that," adds Cheryl Nall.
Their husbands are members of the 820th Security Forces Group at Moody Air Force Base.
They'll ring in the New Year in Iraq where they'll be stationed for the next six months.
