Sylvester man helps community with a clothes drive

December 22, 2007

Albany -- One man hopes to make the holidays brighter for many with his annual "Project Care" clothes drive.

Ervin Fulton held the clothes drive at the Thortan Community Center Saturday. Tables full of clothes and shoes were available for anyone who needed them.

Fulton has been collecting the clothes for this drive since August. And this year Fulton even had a Christmas tree that was full of wrapped toys for children who attended.

"They appreciate it. And I got one important thing from a middle-aged woman. She told me, 'I am so glad you are doing this because this is the only way I can get clothes during the year.' That's how I know that I am really helping someone, said Ervin Fulton.

Fulton has held the clothing drive every year since 1999. He uses this project as part of his community service for the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
