Albany -- Many South Georgians are thinking about people in need before themselves this Christmas. Friday the Prince Hall Masons at the King Solomon Masonic Lodge Number 14 in South Albany packed food boxes for families in their community.

The Masons raised more than one thousand dollars to buy food. They filled 95-boxes with chicken, flour, sugar, meal, grits, vegetables, fruit, cookies, and candy.

Harvey's Supermarkets also donated food to help make sure Christmas is a time of love and happiness,  not hunger. Past Master Dennis Turner of the King Solomon Lodge said "we have a lot of older members, their husbands are dead and gone. Then you have the kids. And we want to make sure we are thinking about them, and not forgetting them."

This is the 14th year the Prince Hall Masons have distributed Christmas Food Baskets in South Albany.
