Albany -- An Albany real estate agent with more than 200 properties says even the best security precautions often don't deter the crooks.

This is all that's left of the air conditioner behind the Five Points Agency on Clark Avenue Wednesday morning. Thieves cut out all the copper wiring and metal tubing despite flood lighting, motion detector alarms, security cameras, and fencing that surround the office building.

Owner Cecil Musgrove says more attention needs to be paid to crime in Albany. Musgrove said "it's a real big problem. We continuously fight it weekly. And try to deter it. And it seems like every time we do something they find a way to go around or over it, or under it."

The metal thieves could get about $250 for the stolen copper. Musgrove says the new air conditioner unit will cost him about $5,000.
