Reedy Creek -- A Colquitt County man who was nearly killed in a car crash, returned home from the hospital to find crooks took advantage of his situation.
Wayne Roberts spent weeks in the hospital recovering from serious injuries.
During that time, someone stole more than $3,000 worth of tools and equipment from the garage of his home on Highway 37 East.
"We're talking about probably $2,000 or $3,000 worth of hand tools that were stolen out from underneath my garage while I was in the hospital. I thought that was pretty bad that somebody would get you while you were down and out," said Roberts.
Some of the stolen items include a welding a machine, two Poulan chainsaws, an Black & Decker air compressor, and a deer stand.
Roberts has no idea who stole his belongings, but neighbors told him they saw a red truck around his home.
If you have any information about the thefts, you are asked to call the Colquitt County Sheriff's Office at 229-616-7430.
