Albany - In addition to throwing an extra blanket on the bed and covering up plants, you should also add an extra layer of protection to your car for the cold winter months. When cold weather hits, you want to make sure your tires are properly inflated and your battery is fully charged. Also, have your belts and hoses checked for any cracks or damage.

Plus, make sure your coolant system is functioning properly.  Brian McDaniel of Goodyear said, "It can have effects as far as the hoses busting, the vehicle overheating, radiator cracking during the wintertime when it gets too cold."

It's also important to have your car checked out when the temperatures crank back up to avoid heat related problems.
