Mitchell County- Three people were hurt in a car crash on Highway 19 in Mitchell County Friday morning.
Traffic was backed up for nearly a mile on Highway 19 near Baconton. Troopers say 70 year old John Britt slowed to turn right into a pecan field and his truck was rear-ended. His truck flipped and he wasn't wearing a seat belt. The car that hit him was driven by 34 year old Iris Edwards of Pelham. Troopers say this is a reminder to pay attention on the roads.
"They need to judge their speed even though they see traffic ahead of them they may not realize hey that guy is going real slow it may be a piece of farm equipment or a truck actually slowing to turn into a field like this happened today so just think about that and judge your distance," said Sgt. Jamie Sullivan, Georgia State Patrol.
Britt was rushed to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Edwards and her passenger 34 year old David Wimberly were taken to Palmyra Hospital and later released.
