Beijing -- An announcement for China to implement a nationwide drug recall system comes one day after the U.S. and China signed an agreement on the safety of food, drugs, and medical devices.
The new recall plan will place Chinese made drugs and imported drugs in three classes according to their potential health danger. Each drug will have to be recalled within a time frame based on its class.
Drugs with the highest potential health danger will have to be recalled within 24 hours and drugs deemed less life threatening would have to be recalled within 72 hours.
The global pharmaceutical industry has begun to rely more and more on drugs either made in China or made with ingredients from China.
