Atlanta -- The GHSA football state semifinals opened with a blowout, and closed with an upset Friday in the Georgia Dome.
Wilcox County started the games at 9am, and easily advanced past Athens Academy 32-14 in the first Class A semifinal.
Lorenzo Dennard threw for 233 yards and three touchdowns for the Patriots, while his twin brother Alfonzo had 134 yards receiving and a score.
Thomas County Central was upset by Ware County 10-7 in the final game of the day, ending the Yellow Jackets 13-game win streak.
The Gators defense shutting out TCC in the first half, and holding the Jackets well below their season average of 40.9 points.
Ware County will now play for the AAAA state championship against defending champ Northside, Warner Robins.
The Eagles scored 21 unanswered points in the second half to come from behind and beat Tucker 31-28.
Clinch County dropped it's Class A game against Emmanuel County Institute 35-14.
Bulldogs junior running back Washaun Ealey ran for 280 yards and four touchdowns in the ECI win.
Wilcox County will host Emmanuel County for the Class A state championship.
Carver-Columbus scored 20 unanswered points in the second half to stave off elimination, and beat Chamblee 26-24.
The Tigers play the winner of Cairo and North Hall in the AAA championship game.
