Albany - Planning to take care of some Christmas shopping this weekend? Keep this in mind:  Shop locally. That's an initiative Cumulus radio is trying to push this season.

Very often when you shop online or out of town, there are no benefits to the local community. By shopping in town, at local retailers, you benefit people who live and work here. "It's our home. It's our community," said Jay Wachs, General Manager for Cumulus.  "These are our retailers. They make a living being here and the bottom line is if we don't support local, local won't be here and it has a negative cyclical effect."

Negative impacts include fewer sales tax dollars coming into our community, which could lead to property tax hikes.
