One confirmed dead in parking lot collision

December 6, 2007

Albany -- Albany police are still working the scene of a fatal collision at the Burger King on North Slappey Blvd., which is surrounded by police tape

APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks tells us that one white woman is dead, and another woman and a child were injured, when an eighty-year-old man, driving a late model pick-up truck ran into them in the parking lot of the restaurant.

The truck ended up crashing through a chain link fence, and stopping in a ditch in front of the restaurant.

One witness told us that looked as if the elderly driver of the truck might have suffered a seizure at the wheel.

Banks says that the Smithville truck driver initially declined treatment, but that EMS later examined him. Banks said  that APD received the call to the restaurant about 11:44AM.

So far, officials have not released the names of those involved, and we do not know the conditions of the two people who were taken to the hospital.
