Sumter Regional will come tumbling down

Updated:

December 5, 2007

Americus--  D-Day is coming for tornado-ravaged Sumter Regional Hospital.

Demolition day is now set for December 19th. The hospital was destroyed when a tornado ripped through Americus March 1st.

An interim hospital is currently being built. A new permanent $125 million state of the art facility will eventually be built and should open by 2010.

After extensive asbestos removal, it's now time to tear the old building down. The walls will tumble around noon on the 19th.
