Valdosta -- The Valdosta State Blazers are a pass-first team, but the run game as played an integral role in VSU advancing to the national semifinals.
Michael Terry carrying the ball 14 times for 58 yards in the win against North Alabama Saturday, giving him 1,028 for the season.
That's about half of the Blazers total this year.
The senior from Americus has scored eleven touchdowns, while averaging over seven-yards per carry.
Terry is eighth on the school's all-time rushing list, and needs just two yards to move into sixth-place in the single-season category.
While the running back is carrying load in the backfield this year, he won't carry any credit.
"It ain't really me," says Terry. "It's my offensive line, and my receivers blocking out wide. I got the easy job, just getting the football and running as hard as I can, so it ain't really credit to me, it's credit to my offensive line and receivers."
Valdosta State will play at California University of Pennsylvania Saturday at 11am in the NCAA Division II national semi-finals.
