Valdosta inmate running from the law

December 3, 2007

Valdosta - Law enforcers are searching for an inmate on the run from a transition center in Valdosta.

Investigators with the Georgia Department of Corrections say 52-year-old David Sweet has family ties and connections in Albany and Camilla.

They say he is now an escapee since he failed to return to the center after work Monday.

He's been at Valdosta State Prison's transition center since October, serving time for burglary and theft by taking.

They say once he's captured or turns himself in, he will be charged with felony escape and sent back to the correctional facility.
