Albany-  Two high-profile lawyers whose firm was unsuccessful in their efforts to sue Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital are now indicted for trying to bribe a Mississippi judge in an unrelated case.

Richard Scruggs, David Scruggs, Sidney Backstrom, Steven Patterson, and Timothy Balducci are charged in a 13 count indictment. They're accused of trying to pay a judge 50 thousand dollars in exchange for a ruling in their favor in a class action lawsuit over insurance claims from Hurricane Katrina.

Scruggs and Backstrom helped Charles Rehberg and Dr. John Bagnoto in a class action lawsuit claiming Phoebe over billed uninsured patients.
