Albany - It's considered by many as the official kickoff of the holiday season in Albany, the annual Christmas parade through downtown. On Friday, workers decorated the tree in front of the Courthouse with lights, and Water, gas and light employees were busy putting the final touches on Santa's Sleigh.

The Celebration of Lights Christmas Parade starts at 6 Saturday night through downtown, but there will be entertainment for the gathering crowds beginning at five on both Pine and Broad Avenues.

Lorie Farkas said, "It's really one of those things that I hope will be a cherished childhood memory whether you're eight or eighty. I remember them when I was a child and it really just kicks off the holiday season and Christmas season in Albany."

Of course if you can't make it out to the parade, you can see it right here on WALB. Our very own Karla Heath Sands, Chris Zellman and Jennifer Emert will host the parade live from six to eight PM.
