Dougherty County - - Some south Georgia roads were closed today due to something you don't see everyday, a house on wheels.

Late Thursday morning, workers began moving a plantation style home from Calhoun County.

It had to be separated into four parts. It came through Dougherty County down Gillionville Road and Tallahassee Road around 3:30 Thursday afternoon.

Workers had to take down traffic signs, power lines and mailboxes to make room.

Dougherty county police, Calhoun and Mitchell EMC crews, AT&T, and the Department of Transportation were all on scene to get the home to Byron Plantation and Old Dawson Road. And the job isn't done.

Crews will be at that site Friday working on the home.
