Quitman - The Brooks County Development Authority unveiled plans to build a new industrial park.

They broke ground Thursday afternoon at the 250 acre sight off Court Street.

They say the proximity to Interstate 75 and the Georgia and Florida Railway, they believe they can attract many new businesses to the area and help create many jobs for the community. 

"We hope that we can create a number of jobs, possibly thousands. We really hope this can be something that will grow making Quitman and Brooks County a thriving community," says Buddy Holwell, Chairman of the Brooks County Development Authority.

Roastwood Materials, a wood product manufacturer, is the first business slated to build here and will create 52 new jobs.

They say they are currently working with other companies to move to the county.
