Valdosta - When Valdosta State coach David Dean had his post game handshake with North Alabama head coach Mark Hudspeth after their regular season meeting in October, the two said they would see each other in the playoffs.
That is the case Saturday when the Lions roar back into Bazemore-Hyder Stadium to play the Blazers for the NCAA DII Southeast Regional title.
Head coach David Dean says it is tough to prepare for an opponent you are familiar with because coaches can tend speculate on what their rivals will do in a second meeting.
Dean also knows it is tough to beat an opponent twice in the same season but if North Alabama could beat Delta State twice this year then the Blazers can do the same to the Lions.
David Dean said "If we are going to win the southeast regional championship, there is nobody better to do it against than North Alabama."
Senior quarterback Willie Copeland said "We played them pretty good the last time we played them. We saw that they didn't do too many adjustments. So, we feel kind of confident about this game."
Game time is 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium.
