You can still get a flu shot!

November 28, 2007

Albany - - Sporadic flu cases are now being reported around the country, but it's not too late to get a flu shot.

This year, the Public Health Department put up several billboards to remind you to get vaccinated.

Thirty-six thousand Americans die each year from the flu. Health workers say a simple shot could save your life.

"We've heard so much lately about MRSA, but when you look at the death toll, flu far exceeds. It's almost double that of MRSA," says Health Director Jacqueline Grant.

No flu cases have been confirmed yet in Georgia, but flu season typically lasts through March.

Doctors stress that you can *not* get the flu from the flu vaccine and they encourage you to get a shot.
