Man confesses to six robberies by snatching

November 28, 2007

Albany -- A man wanted for three Albany robberies is arrested in Americus. Kenyata Austin was caught after snatching money from cash registers at two Americus businesses Wednesday night.

He was already wanted in Albany for doing the same thing at three businesses here. Austin is charged with acting like he was buying something at Woodall's on North Slappey November 19th, when a cashier opened the register during a sale, he reached in and snatched money and then ran.

Austin is also suspected of doing the thing at the Hot Dog King on Pine Avenue November 19th, and then at Krystal's on West Ogelthorpe November 23rd.

Investigators say Austin Wednesday admitted to committing those three robberies in Albany, and robbing the Rubo's Grocery Store and Family Dollar in Americus Tuesday night.

He also admitted robbing the Chevron Convenience store in Americus November 24th.
