Melba Holley Ballard, 93, of Albany died Monday at Palmyra Medical Center.
Her funeral service will be held at 2 PM, November 28, at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with interment to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Michael A. McAfee and Rev. Tami Coleman will officiate.
A native of Wetumpka AL, Mrs. Ballard was a 1936 graduate of Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn) with a Home Economics degree. Mrs. Ballard retired from the Albany Marine Corps Logistics Base following 23 years of civil service.
She was a member of the Motar Board and the Golden Key Club. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for more than 55 years, a member of the Sapp Sunday Class, and a member of Circle 10 at First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Ballard was a lover of cooking, gardening and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and her husband Jack K. Ballard.
She is survived by her 2 daughters: Barbara Ballard Meyer and her husband George of Ponte Verda Beach FL, and Arlene K. Ballard of Albany; a grandson, John Meyer and his wife Deri of Orlando Fl; 2 sisters: Wylie Holley Faughender of Tallassee AL and Dorothy Holley Vardaman of Columbus GA.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at 1 PM in the funeral home.
