Albany - An Albany church needs your help to keep the homeless warm this winter. The Pointe Church is trying to collect 1001 NEW blankets before Christmas.

The goal is to pass those blankets out to the homeless or people who may not have adequate heating in their homes. Kim Greenhill said, "We were actually challenged by our pastor Bryan Gerstel to go out into the community and do something to help others. We originally set a goal of 300. We thought that was too easy to achieve so we set a goal of 1000 and someone said, why not 1001? It gives you a feeling in your heart that's just indescribable."

In less than a week, the church has already collected 200 blankets, but that still leaves them 801 short of the goal. You can donate money or drop off a blanket at these locations:

Gill's Electronics--1121 West Broad Avenue

Griffin and Company Insurance--1779 South Philema Road

Automotive Necessities--2301 North Slappey Blvd.

The Pointe Office--1344 U.S. Hwy 19 South
