Albany - Ray Charles will be welcomed home a day later than planned. Rain and thunderstorms postponed the installation of the Ray Charles statue for the Ray Charles plaza in downtown Albany.
The life-sized statue of Charles, seated at a Baby Grand piano will be placed on top of a rotating fountain. The statue is en-route to Albany from Macon. That installation will now take place Tuesday at 12:30, weather permitting. The unveiling won't take place though, until December 7th, during a grand opening celebration.
