Albany--  If you give the gift of life this holiday season, you'll get a gift in return.

The American Red Cross says the blood supply is critically low and they've seen a noticeable drop in platelet donations recently. They're offering an incentive.

This week, donors will receive a free Red Cross Christmas ornament. You could also get a free turkey, ham or pie. Red Cross workers say the best incentive comes from within.

"A sense of making a difference because that's what the season is all about. It's a season of giving so give that gift that no one else can give," said Andrea Tatum.

Tatum says people get so busy during the holidays that they don't donate. You can give at the donor center on Dawson Road.
