Albany - South Georgia Peanuts front office will have new leadership in 2008.
South Coast League president Jamie Toole says general manager Keith Michlig has been dismissed.
Toole says it was not an easy decision but that the Peanuts first season financially did not meet their expectations.
Toole says the SCL was hoping the Peanuts could lay a business foundation in their first season similar to what Macon did.
Which is a reason is why Macon general manager Rick Sisler is now the director of baseball operations in Georgia where he will be responsbile for not only the Macon Music but also the South Georgia Peanuts.
Toole says the SCL will hire a new general manager for the Peanuts but his duties will not that of a traditional baseball general manager.
The bigger question is who will manage the Peanuts next season.
Wally Backman says he is not coming back but Toole believes Backman will return if he does not get another managerial job.
Backman interviewed for two managerial jobs in the Atlantic League but was not hired for either position.
He is also a finalist for the managerial job with the Joliet Jackhammers in the Northern League and is exploring possbilities with several major league teams in their minor league organizations.
