All come together for reading night

November 15, 2007

Albany -- Students at an Albany elementary school and their families got a special treat Thursday night and enjoyed a fun night of reading.

Hundreds of parents and kids at Sherwood Acres Elementary curled up to a good book for Family Reading night.

Some students and teachers even dressed up as their favorite character from their favorite book.

"If a child can read, they can travel through books and just have adventure. We are excited about that. It brings the family in because it's a family thing. That's what we want. We have family here at school. They have a family at home. And tonight is that connection," said principal Eva Robinson.

This is the first year that Sherwood has held Family Reading Night, but the staff hopes to make this an annual event.
