Volunteers are worth Millions, really

November 12, 2007

Albany - If you think you can't make a big difference by volunteering a little of your time, take a look at this. Volunteers in Dougherty County provided almost $5 million in services last year.

Close to 43,000 people turned out last year to Keep Albany Beautiful by participating in events like Flint River Cleanup. Judy Bowles said, "They just do an outstanding job and they care about the environment and when we put a call out for volunteers they all come in."

The volunteers contributed almost 440,000 hours of service during the entire year.
