Albany -- With their postseason hopes on the line, Monroe dominated Dougherty in a 50-12 victory at Hugh Mills Stadium Saturday night.
The Tornados and Trojans were playing for the right to claim the last remaining spot in Region 1-AAA.
With the win, Monroe grabs the #2 seed, and will host Cross Creek next week.
A win would have given Dougherty the #4 seed, instead, the Trojans are done for the year.
Monroe, Westover, and Worth County all finished 3-2 in the region, with a 1-1 record against each other.
The Tornados break the tie with their record against AAA team's not in the region, thanks to a 25-12 win against Northeast Macon in the third week of the season.
Neither the Rams or the Patriots played any other AAA schools.
Cairo is the top seed in Region 1-AAA, and hosts Benedictine.
Westover is third, and travels to Thomson, while Worth County visits Burke County.
