Man survives car falling

November 6, 2007

Albany   --  Three men pulled a car off of an Albany man after a jack collapsed while he was doing car repairs.

Around 1:00PM Tuesday, the car fell on top of 27-year-old Stanfield Hicks at his home on Meadow Drive.  Hicks was apparently trying to change a belt on the car.

The car pinned Hicks' chest and shoulder to the ground, trapping him.

His brother-in-law Jermaine Jackson and two friends helped pull the car off of him.

"When we came up, he told me, 'Y'all get this car off of me.'  That's all we hard him say and we picked the car up, pushed it back a little bit and got it where he could get his arm and head in the clear and pulled him out from under there and put his head on a pillow and the paramedics came," said Jackson.

Hicks was taken to Palmyra Hospital, where he is still in the emergency room.
