Valdosta -- With one game left in the regular season, the Valdosta State football team is back at the top of the Southeast Regional Rankings.
The rankings are used to determine seeding in the Division II playoffs.
The Gulf South conference holds the top three spots, as the Blazers are followed by North Alabama and Delta State.
Delta fell from the top spot despite a win in its last game, and VSU head coach David Dean says his team is going to have to make a strong statement Thursday against West Georgia if they want to hold on to the top position.
"I think we're going to have to put in a good showing," says Dean. "I don't think we can go out there and flop around. It's going to be a TV game, and I think a lot of the committee is going to watch the game, so we got to be impressive in our victory. Hopefully we are able to do that."
The Blazers host West Georgia Thursday at 8pm.
