Albany--  Albany Police continues to investigate the murder of a 19-year-old in an Albany neighborhood. Close to 5 Sunday evening, Timothy Murray was shot in the head and killed in broad daylight. Family members and police are still trying to piece together exactly what led up to the fatal shooting.

Late Sunday, yellow crime tape warning not to cross surrounded a home on Rosedale Avenue, but bullets already crossed it just a short time before.

"We have a black male roughly aged 19 to 20 that has been shot," said Phyllis Whitley-Banks with Albany Police.

Police quickly surrounded the area near 903 Rosedale after 19-year-old Timothy Murray was gunned down right outside of the home. "The shooting stemmed from a fight that occurred earlier this evening," said Banks.

By late in the evening, police were already in search of suspects. "There were two cars in the area that we're looking for, both silver in color. One is an SUV, the other is a small car," said Banks.

Family members gathered on Rosedale with questions, still in shock and too afraid to speak to us on camera. But one thing they do say is that the fatal shooting is gang-related.  Police are looking into that.

"At this point, we can't say. That's one part of the investigation," said Banks. It's an investigation that continues. Police are relying on witnesses to help them close the case. Several people were in the vehicles witnesses saw leave the scene.

"They're in the process of finding those people," said Banks. For now, another body is covered with a sheet and taken away. It's another life taken due to violent crime.

Murray was one of four men arrested and charged with gang participation in July after a round up by the District Attorney Office's Organized Crime Unit. He was charged with aggravated assault after a gang-related shooting but was found not guilty in September.

Police are looking for a Silver or Gray Ford Explorer with Florida tags. If you have any information, call Crimestoppers at 229-436-TIPS.
