Toys R' Us kick off Toys for Tots drive

November 2, 2007

Albany -- The holiday season is just around the corner, but many children in our area might not have presents to open on Christmas morning.

The U.S. Marine Corp Reserves, Salvation Army and Toys R' Us want to keep that from happening.

Friday, the Toys for Tots toy drive kicked off at Toys R Us.

Shoppers can donate unwrapped toys or make a donation at the time of purchase for the drive.

And this year there is bigger need for toys.

"I know that this year with the with the ever increasing cost of living, there is going to be a lot more need this year. I know that already with the Salvation Army doing registration in just three days, we already have more applications than we had in the last year," said Petty Officer 1st class, john Gilbreath.

Every toy or donation made to Toys for Tots will benefit children in our area.

Toys R' Us will collect the toys until December 9th.
