Former APD officer indicted

November 2, 2007

Albany -- A former Albany Police officer has been indicted by a Dougherty County Grand Jury for a sex crime with a prostitute.

37 year old Derrick Cade was indicted for pandering, a misdemeanor charge of soliciting a prostitute. Cade was arrested June 19 and charged with aggravated sodomy.

Police say they responded to the Townhouse Motel on West Oglethorpe Boulevard a little before 2 AM in reference to a rape.

After an investigation, it was discovered that Cade used his police vehicle to pick up a 37-year-old prostitute on South Harding Street,  then traveled to the motel for sex.

A ten year veteran with the Albany Police, Cade resigned shortly after his arrest.
