Albany - Women working in our community get a lunch time lesson in taking better care of themselves.

City, County and Water, gas and light workers were treated to women at work, a lunch and learn event organized by Phoebe Putney hospital. The women received free blood pressure and diabetes screenings and were had their body mass index evaluated. They were also given information about breast cancer prevention and self breast exams.

Organizer Patricia Swain said, "I think it's an excellent partnership in that it gives them the opportunity to break away and get some screenings that even though they may have health insurance, they may not have."

The idea for women at work kicked off after a similar program for men was held in September for government employees.
