Macon -- The GISA's top long distance runners hit the road for the state meet in Macon.
Deerfield-Winsdor's Kelly Conway was running neck-and-neck with North Cobb's Erin Oshust for most of the race, before finally pulling away in the final stretch to win the state championship.
Conway set a personal-best with a time of 19:49, seventeen seconds off the state record.
It's her second-straight cross country state title, and the sophomore says she even surprised herself with the strong finish.
"I usually don't have that good of a kick, but I just wanted to pass her," says Conway. "I gave it my best, and it worked out in my favor."
The sophomore now has six state titles in her career, including three in track and field and one in the mile-run as an eighth-grader.
