Marines take on MacGregor Golf

October 28, 2007

Albany -- The Marine Corps logistics base and MacGregor golf squared off in a tournament at Doublegate Friday.

The tournament started as a once-a-year get-together, but has since expanded to a quarterly event.

MacGregor took the trophy back from the Logistics base the last time they played, and senior vice president Joe Rocco says it's a great way for both groups to increase their involvement in the community.

"We decided to do it once a year," says Rocco, "but we had so much much, and the camaraderie was so great, we decided to do it every quarter."

Major General of Marines Corps Willie Williams adds, "Last time the trophy changed hands, MacGregor won, so we're out here for a little revenge."

The Marines came up short in their quest to regain the title, as MacGregor won 18 1/2 to 8 1/2.

The series is now tied at two wins apiece.
