Leesburg - In just their second season, the Lee County volleyball team has qualified for their first state tournament.
The Lady Trojans earned the trip after finishing third in the area and winning 23 matches this season.
With a team dominated by juniors, head coach Sherri Schultz hopes the competition at state will help her young program grow even more and grow spread of volleyball in south Georgia.
Sherri Schultz said "We are the only school in this area that is our size that has volleyball. It would really helpful to us if we get Dougherty County playing ball. We have some colleges in the area that want to do some recruiting and this is a real high point as well."
Lee County will play East Paulding in the first round Saturday morning at Woodward Academy.
