Albany - - Thirty-two brave men were honored Tuesday night for putting themselves in harm's way to protect you.

Albany city leaders presented awards to Albany firefighters for performing brave acts of service.

Anthony Blocker walked away with the 2007 Firefighter of the year award for helping rescue a victim from a fire on 8th avenue back in March.

"We entered into the structure and I made it half way into the house in the hallway and as I entered into the bedroom there was an unconscious victim laying in the doorway. I found her unresponsive and I dragged her into the living room and my other team members came to assist," Blocker says.

A.F.D. also recognized a non-firefighter. Carl Taylor received an award for helping rescue children from a fire on East Highland before firefighters got there.
