Coffee set for showdown with Valdosta

October 22, 2007

Douglas -- The Coffee County football team picked up a big win Friday night, knocking off Warner Robins 41-38 in overtime.

But then again, every win in Region AAAAA is a big win.

That's definitely the case for the Trojans this week, as they go on the road to face Valdosta.

The Wildcats lost to rival Lowndes in their last game, and are now tied with Coffee at 3-1 in the region standings.

Each team has just two games left in the regular season, and Friday night's winner will have the inside track on at-least the two-seed in the region.

"Obviously you're getting closer and closer to it," says Coffee head coach Jerry Odom. "Our job is just to get to the third season. We talk about preseason. Region is our real season, and getting to the third season. Our goal is to get to the third season and see what we can do."

Coffee has beaten the Wildcats each of the past two seasons.

The teams kick-off in Valdosta Friday night at 8 o'clock.
