Dawson-- A small chemical spill caused a big scare in Terrell County.
About four o'clock Wednesday afternoon, a truck carrying farm chemicals was heading west on Highway 82 toward Shellman when a can fell off the truck.
The driver of the truck picked up the can and kept going but some of the contents spilled. The mess was left in front of Judy Johns' home and she had no idea what it was.
"Whenever I got out of the truck, I smelled it at my back door. My grandson has breathing problems. I have cancer. My mother has cancer and it's a big deal to us," said Judy Johns.
Traffic was detoured around the spill until about eight o'clock Wednesday night. Someone from the Environmental Protection Division tested the chemical and determined it was not dangerous.
