3rd ranked Fitzgerald ready for tough stretch drive

October 17, 2007

Fitzgerald - There is still a month left in the high school football regular season.

Fitzgerald head coach Robby Pruitt says the playoffs start this week for his unbeaten Hurricanes.

Third ranked Fitzgerald has a big showdown on the road this week at 4th ranked and unbeaten Early County.

The loser will drop out of what is now a three way tie for first in region 1-AA with Thomasville.

After the big showdown with the Bobcats, the Hurricanes will play at Thomasville next week, come home to play Cook and then finish the regular season on the road at Brooks County.

If Fitzgerald can survive this brutal stretch of games, they will certainly be worthyh of being called region champions.

Robby Pruitt said"We only return two and a half kids back on offense. Defensively, we only returned three or four. So, we really didn't know where we would be. We are real fortunate to be where we are at and I am real proud of our kids. But like I said this last month will be the tell."

Fitzgerald plays at Early County Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Blakely.
