Lady Trojans hope this year they get that elusive "one" victory

October 17, 2007

Leesburg - The number one has been a difficult number for the Lee County softball team to handle in recent years.

The Lady Trojans have come just one short from advancing to the state finals in Columbus the previous two years.

The four time region champions hope this is the year they get that elusive one win in the state sectionals.

Lee County head coach Lynn Avery scheduled her team in some very tough tournaments where they beat the number one ranked team in AAA.

Coach Avery believes her team's success against a tough non-region schedule and a deep pitching staff could have the Lady Trojans playing in Columbus next week.

Lynn Avery "We have got a lot of dedication young ladies this year. We lost quite a few players from last year. They have put forth the commitment and the work ethic to get the job done. They are determined to go as far as they can and try to get to the final eight."

Lee County plays Wayne County in the first game of the AAAA sectionals Friday at four. The AAAAA and AAAA south sectionals are in Hampton.

Dublin hosts AAA and class A and the AA south sectionals will be played in Savannah.
