Albany -- A freak accident in Lee County Wednesday. A rock crashed through a man's car window and fractured his skull.

Amazingly, John Williford drove himself to the hospital and walked inside. The driver's window of his car was shattered and blood was everywhere.

Williford was driving south on Lover's Lane Road near Dogwood Lane around 11 this morning when it happened. There were county mowers working on the side of the road at the time.

Williford underwent surgery and is in serious condition.

Investigators say they don't know for sure if the rock was thrown by one of the county mowers.
