Albany -- Omar Salaam appeared before Albany City Commissioners Tuesday, seeking support and money, for a Soul of Albany festival. He said he hopes to bring together the international community that lives here and in the process attract more people to downtown.
"Bring all of the cultures together to do a festival, to celebrate each and every one, different backgrounds and also to promote the downtown," said Salaam. "We think that will definitely enhance the traffic and the interest back downtown."
Salaam hopes to hold the Soul of Albany event in April.The commission heard Salaam's proposal, but took no action.
