Albany State basketball team hits the practice court

October 15, 2007

Albany - Division I college basketball teams started practicing on Friday but DII squads had to wait until Monday to get on the court for their first official practice.

The SIAC champion Albany State men's baketball team held their first practice of the season Monday at the HPER Gym.

Interim head coach Chris Cameron has three starters, Tyrone Evans, Sean Glenn and Isaac Wooden, back but the Rams have lost valuable leaders in Frank Pinson and Travon McGruder.

Coach Cameron believes guards James Clark, Jermel Ellerbee and Sherrod King are ready to step up in the backcourt while the front court has something the Rams haven't seen in a while, depth.

Chris Cameron said "Now we are in a situation where if we have to go big, we can go big. If we have to go small, we can go small. It just gives us flexibility to do what we want to do."

The Albany State men open the 2007-2008 college basketball season at home on November 13th against Carver Bible College.
